Results and report on our efforts:
First, the most important goal - Through your generosity we were able to raise $1,400.00 for the cause – improving the lives of those who have given so much for us. This money may be used to help defray the cost of modifying a vehicle with hand controls, or make a home wheelchair accessible, or supply enhanced artificial limbs, or fill any of the many other needs of the severely wounded. I can’t thank you enough.
Second, the far less important goals, stats, and other fun stuff:
I was able to achieve my stretch goal of completing the 6.2 mile course in less than 50 minutes (mainly because I knew some of you would never let me forget it if I didn’t). My time was 48:20. There were 14,000 registered runners for the race. By the looks of the crowd, I think almost all of them showed up. It took me 7 minutes to get to the start line from when the race started!
Of the 14,000 that started the race, 7,967 finished. Of those that finshed the race, I finished:
· 1,481st - Surprisingly there was no ribbon for this.
· 1,162nd out of 4,124 men (You ladies probably already did the math to determine that I was beaten by 319 women).
· 105th out of 402 in my division (45-49 year old males).
· 24th out of 87 forty-nine year old males.
I was able to pull out one 1st place finish: Having the most special, caring, and generous family, friends, and supporters!
With many thanks and sincere appreciation.
Jim
